posted 03/16/2010 As the second year of the CVMHL drew to conclusion, we had a very busy tournament weekend. This past weekend hosted 18 games over the course of four days. While some teams fared better than others, there is no doubt that all came to compete, and gave it their best. Many of the teams saw their rosters/attendance dwindle to single digits for the better part of the season, and at many times had a direct result to the final score. But that did not damper those players' desire to compete, something to be proud of. A note of recognition and thanks goes to those coaches and team managers who worked hard to keep these teams "alive" for the course of the season under less than desirable conditions.
Congratulations go out to all teams that participated. In the Division 1 Championship Game, Griffin won an exciting 4-2 game over Watertown. In the Division 2 Championship Game, Southeastern defeated the Connecticut Griffins 6-3 in a well played game.
Many thanks to parents who helped with the clock and game sheet during these games. Thank you to Bob Vitale and the Wallingford Hawks organization for hosting the tournament for the second season in a row. And last but certainly not least, a huge thank you to Mark Mansour. Mark served as the CVMHL treasurer, statistician, and tournament director for most all of the games this past weekend.
To those seniors who will move on to college, work or other endeavors, we wish you all the best. To those who will be returning, we'll see you next fall for another season. Thanks again for a successful year as we continue to build the CVMHL.
